We have people from all over the globe who love to keep pets and travel with their pets wherever they go.
Every airline has a separate pet policy for such travelers.
If you are planning to travel with your pet dog and wish to fly via Turkish Airlines then you need to follow the pet policy as designed by Turkish Airlines.
Here is all that you need to take care of:
Does Turkish Airlines Allow Pets on the Plane?
Turkish Airlines does allow to carry pets on the plane. However, only a few animals or birds are allowed as pets on a Turkish flight.
Turkish Airlines allow only dogs, cats, and a few little singing birds on its flight, and that also subjects them to a certain weight category.
Trained service animals are also allowed on the flight with their owners as passengers in the cabin.
How Much Does it Cost to Add a Dog to a Turkish Ticket?
The cost to add a pet is directly proportional to the weight of the pet which is supposed to be added. Such fee also depends on whether a pet is to be carried on a domestic or an international flight.

How Do I Avoid Turkish Airline Pet Fees?
All pets on Turkish Airlines are liable to additional fee payment. However, Turkish Airlines allow Emotional Service Animals (ESANs) to travel for free between Istanbul and the United States.
If you are flying with ESANs between the United States and Istanbul then you can avoid additional pet fees on such flights.
Can Cats Fly in a Cabin on Turkish Airlines?
Yes. Turkish Airlines allow cats to fly in a flight cabin. However, such cats should meet certain requirements as specified under the Pet Policy of Turkish Airlines:
- The minimum age for cats to travel in a flight cabin must be at least 10 weeks.
- The maximum weight of your pet or the combined weight in case you are carrying two species should be 8kg. All other pets above 8kg are not allowed to fly in a cabin.
- There are certain destinations such as the United Kingdom, UAE, Hong Kong, etc., that require flying pets in cargo. If you are flying to these destinations with your pet then pets cannot fly in a cabin.
- Turkish Airlines allow the Service and Emotional Support Animals to fly for free in a cabin. Airlines charge no fee for such pets.
How do I bring my cat from Turkish Airlines?
All travelers who wish to bring their cat or any other pet to/from Turkish Airlines, need to fulfill the given requirements:
- The owner of the pet needs to carry a veterinary certificate of their pet approved by a relevant authority.
- Pets should be vaccinated against rabies. The date of vaccination should be in accordance with the date mentioned on the passport and veterinary certificate.
- There should be a proper mention of the type of doses on the certificate, specifying the first dose and booster dose.
- It is necessary for the flying pet to take a blood serum antibody titration test 3 months before their scheduled departure.
- It is necessary to abide by the sanitary standards of the local Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for all those pets which are unvaccinated and are below the age of 3 months.
- No entry in/from the Turkish territory for pets not carrying a Veterinary passport.
If you properly make sure to comply with all the requirements as mentioned above then you can easily bring your cat or any other pet from Turkish territory.
